Here are the seeds/demos from which many of my finished songs grow out of. There is something fresh and interesting about listening to songs in their infancy stage. Hope you enjoy listening and please feel free to offer some feedback on which one’s you like best, would like to see recorded in the studio etc.

Come Down She Said has a very folk narrative feel to it. Although the lyrics and storytelling are a bit cliche I think the chord progression and overall delivery gives it a fresh sound.

Waiting (Its a Start) has that Johnny Cash Folsom Prison Blues feel – with that guitar driven train groove and the voice laying back in the pocket telling the story. This is a good one for the bar rooms! 🙂

My Mamma (She Was the Morning Light) my mom is everything to me, she raised me to be who I am  -so how can I not have inspiration come to me? I sang this song right from the heart – no pre-written lyrics -just whatever decided to show up. Hope you can relate.

It’s Long Gone has that classic she left me story. It happens a lot, sometimes for the best… In this song I try and capture that initial moment – ground zero.

Hairpin Turns sings to the unsung heroes. For every person that makes it from their hard work and perseverance their are plenty who never get there – but never gave up..

Matt Durfee Style is an instrumental tribute to my friend Matt Durfee who can play the guitar with at least 20 fingers… how else does he get that sound with one set of hands? When I write/experiment on my guitar – Matt’s musical style arises from time to time in my head and well… here is one of those tunes. (*Matt Durfee is a singer-songwriter from the Albany, New York area)

Down Down Down (We All Go) sitting outside with my mom on a beautiful hot summer day -birds were singing and there was my mom sitting quietly in her  wheel-chair. There’s a certain peace in acceptance… maybe because in some way – no matter how high or low we go we all are heading in the same direction.

Let’s Pack It Up this songs reminds me of Bob Dylan lyrics mixed with a Beatles conciseness in the length and choice of chords. I’m actually using most of the chord progression to The Long and Winding Road -with a different melody. Shhhh… don’t tell anybody 😉

Day After Christmas is about my visit on an incredible summer like day the day after Christmas in Albany, New York. It was a Saturday and I was invited to a woman’s parents house whom I had just met. I thought this had romantic possibilities and during my visit felt as if I was in the twilight zone. We were outside playing games – eating wonderful food among wonderful people. Everything seemed too perfect  – summer during winter – I really liked this woman but things didn’t work out and maybe my expectations were more in my head than the friends we were -when she broke the news on a much more weather appropriate New Years Eve.

Dear Mamma recorded on my iPhone and composed for a friend who’s daughter wrote her such a touching letter. She is battling breast cancer but is close to winning the fight. I took her daughter’s words and organized them into this song.*Just an update: as of February 18, 2016 said mom is free of cancer and enjoying life 🙂 For every victory there are people that don’t have the resources or fortune to win the fight. I hope in the near future a cure is discovered.
